Slovakia and Taiwan have set up a joint semiconductor working group at the level of Directors General of Ministries of Economy. The Ministry of Economy (MH) of the Slovak Republic informed about this during the visit of the Slovak delegation led by the State Secretary of the Ministry Karol Galek to this island.
The talks focused on developing high-tech cooperation and expanding activities to new areas such as semiconductors, e-mobility, smart cities, the space industry, blockchain technologies, both industrial, manufacturing and scientific and technical, and academic level.
Taiwan can lead by example
The most important result of the visit is the establishment of a working group at the level of Directors General of the Ministries of Economy for semiconductors and the opening of the so-called Semiconductors Academy for Slovakia.
“Slovakia is ready to support closer economic relations and trade contacts with Taiwan. Taiwan is a successful example that even a small player can become a global leader in research and development. “ Galek said.

The first meeting of the Commission for Economic Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and Taiwan, as well as meetings of working groups, also took place during the visit. A trade and investment forum was also held, the 6th consultation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs at the level of Directors-General and the first consultations between the Ministries of Economy.
Cooperation in science and research
The representatives of the state sector were accompanied by a business delegation, which consisted of 22 representatives of the private sector and trade associations in the field of software development, biotechnology, research and development, data and industry. They held more than 100 B2B meetings with concrete results aimed at deepening economic cooperation.
Nine memoranda have been signed on cooperation in science and research in innovative technologies, business cooperation, smart cities, academic cooperation, the space industry, between the academies of science, tourism and the semiconductor academy.
